It's Not Me, It's You by Lily Allen Review

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

I love Lily Allen. This is her second album. It’s pretty good. I’m gonna go through it. Let’s get into it.

Everyone's At It: Lily is going off about drugs. Commentary on the culture. She actually makes some points. She even says she is involved, but she doesn’t advocate. This song is really cool. I like the sound of it.

The Fear: This song is a classic. I think the lyrics are genius. It’s such a good song. Her voice is super pretty.

Not Fair: This song is so funny to me. It sounds super pretty once again. And it has a bit of country influence. But then she starts singing about how her boyfriend is really bad at sex. It’s such a surprise honestly when compared to the sound of the song. It’s a really good song, though.

22: This is better than 22 by Taylor Swift I think. It’s kind of a depressing song. Just because of the content. It’s sad but it’s true. It’s also very catchy.

I Could Say: Break up song. It’s very pretty. She’s happy he’s gone because she feels free. This song isn’t even that mean, she’s just celebrating her life. She’s better off without him.

Back to the Start: This song I’m pretty sure is about her sister. It makes me nervous because I never want to have a falling out with my sister. This song is an apology, though. I think the chorus is really fun. It’s very fast.

Never Gonna Happen: This is a weird song. I think it has an accordion in it. I don’t mind the verses, although they are kind of cheesy. I am not a fan of the chorus. At all. I think it’s really bad. I feel like I’m at a weird child circus. The lyrics are sassy and very Lily Allen, but they’re nothing special.

F**k You: I think everyone knows this song. It’s so classic. Lily really did that. I love this song. It’s so fun. The lyrics are great. Her voice sounds so pretty.

Who'd Have Known: This song is so cute. It’s a rare happy love song. And it’s very catchy. It’s not the most interesting song ever, but the cuteness makes up for it.

Chinese: This is about coming home from tour and hanging out with her mom. That’s so sweet. It’s just about doing fun things together. Watching tv, eating chinese food, taking the dog for a walk. This song is very British.

Him: I think this song is so pretty. The lyrics are silly at times, but overall I think it’s an interesting concept. She’s asking questions about God as if he were just another dude. I think the chorus is just so good. I love the vibe of this song so much.

He Wasn't There: This song is about her dad leaving. It’s actually kind of sweet. It’s a song of patience and forgiveness and it’s a nice change up. It sounds very old-timey, but I like it a lot.

Final Ranking:

The Fear

Not Fair

Him

Back to the Start

22

Everyone’s At It

F*** You

He Wasn’t There

Who’d Have Known

I Could Say

Chinese

Never Gonna Happen

This album is really good. It’s not too long and it’s a very interesting sound. I like how cohesive is, which is probably due to her sticking with the same producer for the whole thing. It is very refreshing even though it’s 12 years old. It gets a score of 7.92/10. I think it’s very good. bye
