sweetener by Ariana Grande Review

Updated: Jun 1, 2022

I'm here for this one.

raindrops (an angel cried): This is a gorgeous intro.

blazed: This song got a lot of hate but I vibed with it. I love Pharrell’s parts. He and Ari sound so good together. Yeah, the song is pretty basic, but it sounds good and it’s a good dancing song. I’m tired of feeling ashamed of this song. This song is good.

the light is coming: Another song that people didn’t like. I think it’s really cool and different. I love Nicki’s verse so much. She’s such a queen. It’s a pretty repetitive song, but I really like Ariana’s speaking voice in it. I think the beat is cool and whatever the sample is of the guy yelling is so fun. I think this song fits so well into the album.

R.E.M.: This song is cute. I just have no idea what she is saying. There’s some parts of the song I really like. The pretty “bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum” part and the “excuse me, um, I love you” and also the “wake up” repeating part. It really does sound somewhat like a lullaby. I wish it was a little shorter.

God is a woman: This song builds so much. It got all hyped up and I wasn’t feeling it at first, but oh my god. The ending of this song. How it sounds like a whole choir made of Ariana is singing?? Amazing.

sweetener: The best part is the chorus. Maybe the only good part lol. It’s fun. The “get it, hit it, flip it, etc.”

successful: Man, I’m always changing my mind on this song. But it’s so much fun. She’s so successful, guys. I love it so much.

everytime: This song is so good. The chorus is so catchy. And I live for the end. When she’s singing all high. It’s so good.

breathin: This song is good, it just gets old. I don’t find it very compelling, she just has good vocals on it. I like how the second chorus really builds because the first one is pretty boring.

no tears left to cry: I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. This song makes me so unbelievably happy. This is one of my top Ariana songs of all time. It seems basic because it was a single, but this song is so beautiful and makes my soul leave my body. I could cry and scream and smile and laugh to this song.

borderline: This song is so underrated. The music is so good. You can just dance to it. And the lyrics are so simple but so fun. AND MISSY ELLIOT. OMG. Her verse goes off.

better off: I love sad songs. I’m so glad she had one. This song is pretty personal and I’m surprised she released it. I feel like it hurt someone’s feelings. But it’s so pretty. And the violin at the end is so beautiful.

goodnight n go: This is a fun song. I really like the lyrics. Lots of details in them. I love how she describes the heat going off. It’s so specific and really cute.

pete davidson: This song has been abandoned since the two broke up, but I think it’s one of the best songs off the album. I wish it was longer, but I also know that its length is part of the reason why it’s so good. It’s such a perfect love song. It’s so pretty and perfect. Her repeating that she’s finally gonna be happy is so uplifting, but also devastating because everything falls apart. Also the violin. Smack.

get well soon: This song is a lot. I like the message. I like how there’s a lot of lyrics, which is nice in long songs. It’s just not the most compelling song to me. The music is very simple and it really relies on the layering of her vocals. It’s pretty, but it’s not special to me.
