Yours Truly by Ariana Grande Review

Her very first album. How nice.

Honeymoon Avenue: Her vocals in this song are unbelievable. I know she had a few singles before this album was released, and people had also heard her sing on Victorious, but what a way to introduce yourself. I seriously think this is one of her strongest songs, and for it to come so early in her career is super impressive. I love the violin, I love the chorus, the pre chorus. Everything.

Baby I: This song is fine. It’s catchy and fun to sing along with, but it’s not that good. I think the best part is towards the end when she really starts hitting those high notes.

Right There: This song is where it’s at. Her voice is so beautiful throughout this whole song, and it goes crazy at the end, which I love. I love how classic the sound of this song is. It definitely has a little 90s vibe to it, and for sure some Mariah influence.

Tattooed Heart: One of my most favorite Ariana songs. Nothing is more beautiful than this. It’s so old fashioned yet modern. She really did it to us. Her ballads always hold a special place in my heart, so that’s probably why I love this song so much. If I could have the ability to sing, but only one song, this would be that song.

Lovin' It: This song is fun. It has a lot of R&B influence I think. The chorus is catchy. It’s not the best quality, but that’s okay.

Piano: I really don’t like this song. First of all, there’s barely any piano. It’s way over produced. And the chorus doesn’t sound right. The melodies just don’t work. And the whole point of the song is pretty stupid. I skip this song every time.

Daydreamin': I like this song because it takes you back in time, but it has modern music elements in it. It’s a pretty simple concept, daydreaming about a crush. I also love the outro, which is a recording of her grandpa talking about the first time he saw her grandma. Very cute.

The Way: This song is iconic. Even more so now. I could never get tired of this song. This has a ton of 90s vibes as well. RIP Mac, this song goes hard.

You'll Never Know: I like the story of this song. Telling someone that it’s too late and they’ll never know what it’s like to be with you. That’s fun. And this song is actually really good. At first listen I wasn’t sure, but it really grew on me. It’s just a good dance and sing along song.

Almost Is Never Enough: This song is torturous. It has so much potential to be good, but it sucks. I don’t like the male part of this song. I could do without him completely. Ariana’s voice is pretty, but the chorus is so slow and boring. And the song is so long. Jesus Christ. If you’re going to make a slow boring ballad please don’t drag it out for 5 and a half minutes.

Popular Song: Now, this could be a bad song. But I will never admit it. I love this song so much. It’s so catchy, I love how vivid the imagery is. It’s kind of stupid and silly, but it was so prominate in my childhood I could never say anything bad about it. The music video is so iconic. I can’t not think of it when I’m listening to the song.

Better Left Unsaid: This song is alright. I would be much better if they didn’t get all dance remix on the chorus. It feels kind of random and just doesn’t mix well with the rest of the song. Also, this is a weird song to close an album to.
