Harry's House by Harry Styles Review

Super excited about this. Harry is awesome and cool.

Music For a Sushi Restaurant: I have a lot of thoughts. I like that he tried something so different. I think there’s a lot going on, but it’s totally super fun. And it’s a great album opener. I think my only issue with the song is the “bah bah bah” vocals in the background. I am very anti acapella so that rubs me the wrong way. Besides that it’s so fun. I love the horns.

Late Night Talking: This is such a feel-good song. The chorus is super catchy.

Grapejuice: I’m really into this song. I love the music and the vocal effects he uses on the verses. And it sounds kind of happy but the song is actually sad. He’s just drinking a lot of wine to get through a breakup. That’s what I take away from it anyway.

As It Was: I know this was the first single but I stand by this being one of the best songs off the album. It sounds so happy but it’s actually so devastating. And it’s so catchy. I love this song.

Daylight: I’m just so into the instrumental moments in this song. It really reminds me of early 2010 indie pop/alternative music. It’s so fun. I really like this song. It’s just a ton of fun.

Little Freak: This song is really pretty. People are super into this track. I totally get that. It’s totally sad, but it’s not that sad to me. He seems okay. It’s reflective, but not in a devastating way. Like maybe you would go back to them, but life is okay without them.

Matilda: This song is very sad but I like that it’s not totally sad. Like there’s somewhat of a happy ending. Or at least a happy ending option. She can start a family. But I really like this song. I love the concept of this person not realizing how bad her situation was until she opened up to someone else. I think this song could totally break me down at the right moment.

Cinema: I claimed this song before the release and that’s okay. It’s a fun song. I like how it breaks down at the end. But I do feel like he’s phoning it in here. It’s just a song. Still good, but nothing too groundbreaking or exciting.

Daydreaming: This song is really good. I love when he’s shouting at the end. This song builds really good. And the background music is so fun.

Keep Driving: I really like this song. It’s short and sweet, but it’s really nice. I love the tune. It’s really catchy. And I think it’s about ignoring problems in a relationship. And problems the world is throwing at you. The bridge is fabulous too.

Satellite: I love how this song builds. The end of this song really got me hooked. It’s such a nice sound. Makes me nostalgic for something. I don’t really know what. But it feels so summery to me.

Boyfriends: This to me is the saddest song on the album. It sounds so sweet and happy, but it’s actually devastating. Just so you know. It’s hopeless and helpless and a little pathetic. The person he sings about doesn’t have enough in them to cut this person off. Corrin said conceptually this is his “cardigan” and I think she might be onto something.

Love Of My Life: If I was Olivia Wilde I would have to check myself into an institution. I love his vocals on this track. This song is pretty simple and sad. It’s a little boring, but I like it and it does a good job being the closing track. Really wraps everything up.
