BADLANDS by Halsey Review

This feels so old. I was in seventh grade and wasn't emo but wasn't fine either. This album makes me somewhat nostalgic, but not very so don't make fun of me. It just reminds me of a specific time, which was Social Studies. Let's get into it.

Castle: This song is pretty cool. It’s not too cringey, which is nice. I actually like it for the most part. My issue with it is that I think it’s too long. I could do without all the instrumentals throughout the song. They’re not that cool.

Hold Me Down: I like this song. I think it’s fun and the lyrics are interesting. Also, her voice is pretty in it.

New Americana: This song is so dumb. It makes me cringe. I don’t like it at all.

Drive: This song is really pretty. The lyrics are a little basic, but I forgive them.

Hurricane: This song goes hard. She did something right. It’s cute and fun. Not actually cute, but you know what I mean.

Roman Holiday: This song is so good. It’s so catchy and fun. The lyrics are really good and tell a great story. I think it’s such a cute song. And it’s very interesting.

Ghost: This is the OG song. Takes me back to seventh grade when I tried to be emo, but it didn’t work. This song is really good.

Colors: I don’t like this song. I don’t think it sounds good. Also, this concept has been used many times before. I do like the music video, though.

Colors, Pt. 2: Lame.

Strange Love: This song goes hard. I love it so much. Is it a little bit too edgy? Perhaps. But I don’t care. I think it’s so much fun and catchy.

Coming Down: I really like this song. It’s really pretty and makes me feel something. Not relatable, but also pretty relatable? Idk man it’s good.

Haunting: This song is cool. I really like it for one lyric. “I’ve got a boyfriend now, and he’s made of gold.” I think that adds a lot to the story. It’s not the most interesting song because the chorus is a little choppy, but it’s not bad.

Gasoline: This song has fun lyrics, but they’re also super cringey. I don’t know why she tries to be an edge lord so much. Give it a rest.

Control: I like this song. It’s honestly kind of spooky. And it’s good for when you’re upset or on the verge of a mental breakdown.

Young God: This song is interesting. It’s a little too boring to be a favorite, but I like the lyrics a lot. I think it paints a good picture in my mind.

I Walk The Line: I didn’t know this was a cover for the longest time. I think she does a really good job, though. I like it. Good closer.

New Americana

So after revisiting this album I've decided it gets a rating of 6.91/10. I genuinely like the songs Coming Down, Ghost, Strange Love, and some others. Some of the lyrics are a little too much for me, but maybe I'm just not able to handle it. And that's okay. Thanks for listening.
