I was very excited for this album because all of the singles went hard.
brutal: Love the guitar. I appreciate the concept and what she tried to do. I don’t know if the execution was perfect. It’s fine.
traitor: I think I have a problem with this song. I like the idea. But some of the lyrics just don’t work for me. And the chorus doesn’t flow. It’s not horrible, but it does bother me a little bit.
drivers license: This song was way overplayed but it’s good. Can’t lie. I’m really into the bridge. I think that’s the most important part here.
1 step forward, 3 steps back: She samples New Year’s Day. That’s hurtful. She’s describing a very toxic relationship. Poor Olivia.
deja vu: I love this song. I think it’s so cute and I love the idea. The indie guitar sound she uses is so cool.
good 4 u: I think this song is so good. I’m obsessed. Sing it all the time. For sure it gives Paramore vibes but whatever I like it.
enough for you: If someone said they weren’t “the compliment type” I think I would have to trip them. That’s so annoying. She has a really good voice.
happier: This totally does give off ‘happiness’ vibes. I think the concept of this song is clever. I think the production is boring.
jealousy, jealousy: This song is a nice break from all the relationship songs. It’s really cool. And the bridge kicked me in the face. It’s fabulous.
favorite crime: The chorus is very pretty. And I like the lyrics. It’s just not a very stand out song. I think it fades in with a lot of the other songs on this album (enough for you). But it’s a good song.
hope ur ok: This song actually made me feel things. I like how personal it is, but still relatable somehow. Perfect song to end the album for sure.
Final Ranking:
good 4 u
deja vu
jealousy, jealousy
hope ur ok
drivers license
1 step forward, 3 steps back
favorite crime
enough for you
brutal
traitor
happier
I think this is a solid debut. Some of the songs have similar concepts and production, so maybe she could’ve thinned them out, but she also only has 11 tracks. So I don’t know. It gets a 7.27/10. bye
