Preacher's Daughter by Ethel Cain Review

I think Mike the Snare talked this album up and I trust that man.

Family Tree (Intro): This song goes hard. I’m super into it.

American Teenager: This song feels like a standard pop song, but in a good way. It’s a really good song. Very Americana and deep lyrics.

A House In Nebraska: This song is just so sad. Super sad break up song. She’s devastated.

Western Nights: This is totally an I Would Do Anything for You song. It’s not a good situation but she’s devoted. Very pretty song.

Family Tree: Her voice sounds so good on this track. She can really hit those low notes. This song is long but it’s totally worth it. It’s a whole trip.

Hard Times: I was too young to notice that some types of love could be bad. What a lyric. This song is kind of disturbing but it’s so pretty.

Thoroughfare: She sounds a little bit like Sky Ferreira on this track. I’m thinking of the Ghost EP. This is a really long song but it tells such an interesting story.

Gibson Girl: This song was interesting. I don’t even know what else to say about it.

Ptolemaea: Intro sounds are really creepy. Oh my god this is the scariest song I’ve ever heard. This song is a little too weird for me, sorry Ethel. Except then it gets really crazy and I’m kind of into it.

August Underground: This is an instrumental and it’s really creepy.

Televangelism: Here we have another instrumental. I believe this one is supposed to be her going to heaven after she’s been murdered.

Sun Bleached Flies: This song is so gorgeous. Feels like a finale.

Strangers: This song was very dark because it was about love but also cannibalism?? Like I’m not even sure but it was really pretty and I liked how it built.
