I only know the singles from Bleachers, but I really like Jack Antonoff so I hope I like this album. I’m nervous that I won’t so I really hope I do. Let’s get into it.
Dream of Mickey Mantle: This was an interesting start. I liked it, but I don’t think it’ll be on repeat. I liked the lyrics a lot. I don’t think I understood it completely, but I definitely got some of it.
Goodmorning: I liked this song a lot. I think it was the lyrics. They’re very specific and interesting. I hope that continues in the album. I giggled at the chorus because he said good morning to the cars.
Hate That You Know Me: This song is so good. I love the story. It’s kind of relatable but not really for me. But you get what I mean. Also Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Julia Michaels were the background vocals and that’s such a flex on Jack’s part.
Don't Take the Money: This song is important. I love it so much. Fun fact, so does my dad. I love the message. It’s like “don’t be a sellout” but in a romantic way. And the 80s theme going on is cool too. Also Lorde vocals in this as well. Very nice. And she co wrote. Nice.
Everybody Lost Somebody: Wow this makes me feel something. It’s kind of deep. We’ve all felt some grief from a loss. And realizing that everyone has felt that kind of makes you feel better. Anyways, the energy of this song is really uplifting while at the same time being kind of devastating. It makes me feel overwhelmed, but it’s really good.
All My Heroes: I really like the guitar omg. I think that’s the best part of the song. I really like the chorus as well. The first verse wasn’t for me because it kind of scared me. I’ll get over it, though. I thought it was a good song.
Let's Get Married: Crazy that this song has sad undertones. The world is scary so let’s get married because I know I can trust you. I’m gonna choose not to read too much into this song when I listen. I need a happy song.
Goodbye: This song was fine. The middle part was kind of boring. It’s not my favorite.
I Miss Those Days: This song makes me feel better. It’s very comforting. Reminiscing on when you were lost and confused. But you kind of miss that feeling because even though everything was wrong you were still alright. Idk. The music was fun in this song.
Nothing Is U: I don’t really feel much about this song. It’s nice. A little sad. I just didn’t really get into it. I don’t think it’s bad, but it’s low on my list.
I'm Ready To Move On / Mickey Mantle Reprise: Lots to take in here. There’s just a lot going on. I thought the song was very good. I like the bus stop part. It made me happy. And then the end kind of made me sad/hopeful again. I guess that’s the theme of the album. The violin over the lady talking was nice.
Foreign Girls: I didn’t like the verses really. I wasn’t feeling the voice effects. And I usually like horns but not that one. But I loved the chorus so much. I’m upset that it happened that way.
Final Ranking:
Don’t Take The Money

I’m Ready To Move On/Mickey Mantle Reprise

I really enjoyed the cohesiveness of this album. Every song had the same vibe without all of them being the same. I guess it’s about going back home and growing up and all that jazz. It was a very comforting album but also had a few truth bombs in there to make me uncomfortable. But yeah, I liked it. It gets a 8/10. bye
