E•MO•TION by Carly Rae Jepsen Review

Updated: Jun 1, 2022

I think Carly is a fabulous lady. It’s an amazing name. And this album is pop perfection. It deserves so much.

Run Away With Me: This song is so good. I have to dance. It’s so iconic. I just want to run around and dance and be happy with this song.

E•MO•TION: Another iconic piece. When she says she is 10 feet tall? Amazing. Fantastic.

I Really Like You: This song got bullied a little bit, but it’s iconic. Tom Hanks is in the music video. That means it’s special. I actually like this song a lot. It’s a little silly, but the lyrics aren’t stupid. It’s a genuinely good song and you cannot change my mind.

Gimmie Love: Wow 4 in a row. This is another great song. It’s pretty simple, but the way it builds is so good. And the bridge!! Amazing!

All That: This song is a little long, but it’s so cute. And it sounds so 80s. I think it’s really good, but it’s not on top for me mainly because of its pace.

Boy Problems: Ok. I absolutely love this song. I don’t care if it’s cliche. It’s so good. The lyrics are iconic. “I think I broke up with my boyfriend today and I don’t really care. I’ve got worse problems.” You can’t tell me that’s not iconic.

Making the Most of the Night: I love this song too! The chorus is so good. It’s very fast paced and chaotic, but it’s done very well. I feel like I don’t know what’s going on, but Carly’s saving the day.

Your Type: This is such a good song. I love the story of it. Makes me feel a little bad for Carly. But she’s also being so real. And the bridge is the best part. I love how her voice sounds there.

Let's Get Lost: This song is really cute. Definitely reminds me of Long Way Home by 5SOS. It’s pretty much the same story line. It’s really good, though. I love the saxophone.

LA Hallucinations: This song is different from the previous songs, but it’s still good. It’s not as 80s influenced as the others. I like it still. It’s fun how she talks about LA.

Warm Blood: I’ve been sleeping on this song. I think it’s really good. It’s not one of my favorites because it doesn’t excite me as much as the others, but I still think it’s good. It sounds really cool.

When I Needed You: This song is sickening. I absolutely love the lyrics. At first you’re like “Carly no” but then she keeps talking and you’re like “Omg go off.” This song is so 80s.

Black Heart: I am this song according to Buzzfeed. This song is so fucking cool. It’s all digital, but still super 80s. It’s really catchy. I’m always singing this song out of nowhere.

I Didn't Just Come Here To Dance: This song is really fun. The idea of Carly Rae Jepsen going out to dance is just really funny to me. This is a good song. Not my favorite. I can’t really explain it. It’s just not the most interesting song lyrically.

Favourite Colour: This song is fine. I like the verses a lot. The chorus is not the best. It’s not bad, it’s just boring. I really do like the verses. They’re very honest and explicit without being actually explicit. The autotune usage is nicely applied. Happy for Carly she really made a bomb ass record.
