I like The Weeknd so I hope I like this album. I think he’s a cool guy. Let’s get into it.
Alone Again: Okay, I am not a fan of how his voice sounds on this track. It’s a little annoying, very whiny, you get it. The beginning is pretty boring. Then the beat kinda drops and it gets better. Not the most impressive song tho. A little bit disappointed.
Too Late: I like this song better. I think it can grow on me. It’s just not that fun, and also his voice sounds really weird in this. I don’t mind it too much. The music in this song saved it.
Hardest to Love: This song is actually pretty cute. I actually like the sound of this song. Probably because he’s in his lower register. And I like the lyrics more. Like I said, they’re cute.
Scared To Live: He’s like move on. I like the lyrics a lot more than the sound of this track. I think the chorus is cliche. It could be from a live action Disney remake. That’s just how I feel.
Snowchild: Sonically, it’s boring. I’m waiting for something to excite me. I hope I’m waiting until Blinding Lights. Because that song gets me going. But I really do like the storytelling in this song. Probably the best lyrics so far on the album. In my opinion. Makes me a little sad in a good way.
Escape From LA: He keeps singing about the same stuff. And I’d be okay with that but it’s been three years since his last album, you’d have to imagine that more has gone on in this dude's life. He’s just like omg I’m bad when I drink. I love you but I suck at it. Omg take me outta Cali. Honestly I hope he makes it out of LA because I want better content. I do like the end of this song. Those lyrics are good. Explicit tho lol.
Heartless: I honestly forgot this was a song lol but yeah it’s good. It’s the first song that’s gotten me excited. He sounds so good on this track.
Faith: This song is good. I approve. Also I decided his head voice sounds like Muno from Yo Gabba Gabba. IFKYK. Like if Muno decided to sing about cocaine and sex.
Blinding Lights: This song is so good. Nobody disagrees.
In Your Eyes: Another good one guys. I think I’m a fan of 80s music. Because the sax in this. Omg. This song isn’t the most complicated song lyrically speaking, but it’s forgiven because all his lyric strong songs on this album so far have been boring.
Save Your Tears: This song is so good. It’s the first really devastating one. And it’s so good sonically as well. Might be one of my favorites.
Repeat After Me (Interlude): The Weeknd always has the best interludes.
After Hours: This isn’t a bad song by any means, it’s just not my favorite. It’s pretty long and I don’t think it’s interesting enough to be 6 minutes long.
Until I Bleed Out: This song is fine. I don’t hate it. It’s not being added to my playlist tho.
Nothing Compares: Hold on, what is being sampled? I can’t find it online but the intro music is so familiar. This is gonna bother me so much. The song is pretty average.
Missed You: This was a good one. Short and sweet. Liked it.
Final Lullaby: This song is pretty. Best bonus track I think. It’s still pretty boring, though.
Final Ranking:
Blinding Lights
Save Your Tears
In Your Eyes
Heartless
Faith
Hardest To Love
Repeat After Me (Interlude)
Final Lullaby
Missed You
Snow Child
After Hours
Too Late
Escape From LA
Until I Bleed Out
Nothing Compares
Alone Again
Scared To Live
So I didn’t hate it, but there was a lot I didn’t really care for. The deluxe songs weren’t much either. It gets a 6.29/10 from me. Better than average. bye
